This floor (supplied
by English Timbers) was installed in a new (heated) conservatory
and two adjoining rooms. Installation was by secret nailing
and adhesives, and after lightly liming the boards they were
sealed with a silk lacquer. We also installed new oak skirting
boards finished to match the floor. |
 |
This floor was installed with
character grade oak, with stair nosings made to pattern, and
finished with hardwax oil, which leaves a satin matt finish.

This Olive Ash floor (supplied
by English Timbers) was installed in the hall, stairs and landing,
using adhesives on the solid hall floor and stairs, and secret
nailing on the landing. |
 |
This design was laid over floorboards (lined with ply), with a 2-line border in wenge, and was stained to the customer's chosen colour. |

This picture shows the rich, deep tones of walnut boards, with the pale streaks of sapwood (a feature of the character grade) providing highlights. The floor was sealed with hardwax oil. |
 |
This tropical hardwood is extremely tough, and therefore ideally suited to this restaurant floor in the busy Westminister hotel in Chester. It was sealed with Bonakemi Traffic lacquer, a durable commercial finish. |
 |
The striking mixture of colours looks very attractive in a contemporary setting, and the wood itself is very hard. |
 |
This is the most popular of all the parquet designs, and looks particularly attractive in prime oak. The floor has the 2-line border in Merbau, which was steamed so that it could be bent around the curve of the bay. |
 |
This flight of stairs was clad in Merbau, and a contrasting maple border, which ran around the landing floor, was continued down the stairs as a feature strip across each step. |
 |
This simple design was built up on site, to make a feature in the herringbone parquet floor. More complicated designs, such as a circular compass can be fabricated off-site on a computer controlled laser cutter. In this way designs of any complexity can be created. |
 |
This random width oak floor looks completely at home in a country cottage, particularly with the hardwax oil finish, giving a deep rich golden colour, bringing out the figuring in the boards. |
